Meditation to Thank and Love Your Body
Naran S Balakumar
Relax yourself.
Relax your shoulders.
Look within yourself to see the body – the product of food (you eat).
Say to yourself silently, “I bow to all my organs. I thank all my organs. I go beyond the physical body entering the layer of Prana. The life force pulls me up.”
Going further above, a new World of Prana opens up.
Say “All my insecurities, my fears are nowhere. I feel safe and secure. I feel secured inwardly and outwardly.”
Going deeper into your SWADHISTANA CHAKRA say “Swadhistana, open up. Rotate clock wise. All my desires, likes and dislikes disappear. They leave me one by one.”
Going up; moving around the sun god. Travelling beyond the sun, planets and entering the field of stars.
Going higher and also deeper into your SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA, say ““Solar Plexus Chakra opens up to receive the light. My thought, my questions, my earnings, my views, everything appears and disappears.”
Going deeper into HEART CHAKRA – ANAHATA, say “Anahata is rotating clock wise. What is behind the Thought field? Silence. Silent awareness is there. Is it me? I am aware of my Prana, sensations in the body. I am totally seeing and clearing.”
Going higher, say “There is no time. But I am there. No perception of right and wrong. What appears as right; what appears as wrong; everything looks right. There is no polarity. Standing up to the higher levels. Thinking is God. My identity, my thoughts disappears. “
Becoming lighter and lighter; brighter and brighter; expanding like a light.
Going above and reaching the third eye. The awareness is around the third eye. Say “The third eye is silent. I am peaceful beyond the words. I become all”.
Going higher and higher in the midst of light; becoming smaller and smaller; becoming one of the golden rays of light. Merging in the golden light. Resting in the golden light. Looking from far above my body.
“My body has also become golden light. Every organ is shining and vibrating like a golden light. Golden light around me and above me; below me. A feeling of gratitude fills up me.”
“LOVE THANKS DIVINE. There is only love. There is only joy. There is only light.”
Open your eyes now.
Listener Mudra Mumbai 2015
Naran S Balakumar
Tip of the thumb touching the middle finger, while index finger is placed at the base of the thumb, on both the hands.
This is a very important Mudra to be totally aware of what is going on in the mind and to be here and now.
Most of the time, you will notice that all the thoughts are coming without informing us.
Even though we don’t want to have those thoughts, still the thoughts come. Every thought comes and goes without our awareness.
Be in this Mudra, when the thought comes, immediately tell the thought to stop.
Doing this Mudra is also one form of meditation, wherein you were arresting the time – which is very important as you can have a good time then.
Do not bother about bad time. When somebody says this is a bad time for you then you be in this Mudra daily for 15 minutes.
By being in this Mudra and you have to observe the thoughts.
When any thought intrudes into your mind, say “Stop! Without my knowledge why do you enter, get out”. Or say the word ‘cancel’ repeatedly.
None of the thoughts should come to you without your awareness. When any thought comes to your mind put a block and suppress it. Don’t allow it to come.
After doing this you will have a space between thoughts. Even if the there is only one second between one thought to another it is enough. This will increase over a period of time.
The space has to increase between two thoughts. Today if you are able to create space for 10 seconds, tomorrow it should be for 15 seconds and like that in the subsequent days.
Increase the space between two thoughts and thus be without any thought. Or if you do not want any other thought to come, chant the mantra and do the Listener Mudra.
By which even if you do it for 5 minutes or 10 minutes, you were winning over the time – bad time.
When something has to be done by today itself and you cannot do, be in this Mudra and remove all the thoughts about it. Without thinking anything, things will start happening.
For marriage, purchasing the house, remaining unmarried even after great deal of efforts, or if you want to purchase a house and not able to purchase it, do this Mudra.
At least, once a day or twice a day, remain thoughtless.
SOHAM Meditation
Naran
Say ‘SO’ during inhale internally and ‘HAM’ for exhale. A mild or soft breath will do.
Use only one speed while doing this rapid breathing, without holding the breath during inhale and exhale.
After 45 minutes of rapid breathing, we don’t need to breathe at all. In that state of no breathing, we merge with the cosmic breath. Then the latter will take over our breathing and take care of it.
Whenever we have a diarrhea or dysentery SOHAM breathing can do the necessary healing. Our pulse rate changes from 74 to 60.
If the breathing is fast, then our focus will be on our breath, mind becomes quiet, and throws away toxins from our system.
Instead of SOHAM (I am that), you may chant NAGAM (I am not) or KOHAM (who am I).
It is better to use a CD that chants SOHAM as then it will be easier for us to maintain the speed of breathing.

How to acquire a good breathing pattern?
- When you meditate, place the index finger at the base of the thumb on both the hands. Breathing will get deeper and you could meditate properly, as shallow breathing spoils it.
- Don’t take the index finger straight away move your finger to the base of the thumb. First touch the tip of thumb with the index finger. Then after some time, move the index finger to the middle of the thumb, and finally the base of the thumb.
- Don’t do it mechanically. Feel the breath with a conscious awareness.
- Observing your breathing is also a good way to meditate. This is part of meditation known as Vipassana meditation.
Space Meditation
- After learning to breathe well, do the space meditation.
- Be aware of the space between the chair you are sitting and the wall. Don’t look at the wall. Instead look at the space between you and the wall.
- This is known as ‘Space Meditation’. Keep the eyes open throughout.
Bach Flower Remedies as Aids to Meditation
White chestnut helps to remove our thoughts, Chestnut bud not to have any distractions and Willow if you think one or the other bothers you.
Chant Mantra during Meditation
It’s nature of our mind to cling to something. You can choose a mantra to do that. After sometime you should be able to say goodbye to it. Mantra itself is not divinity. It means constantly thinking about a word, which is a mantra. Ultimately that also should go.
When it will go? We don’t know. May be, it’s not in this Janma.
Simple ways to meditate Part I

Meditation is an experience that nobody can teach you.
Neither can we go to deep into meditation suddenly as it’s a practice and a habit that is formed over a period of time.
Meditation means, to remain silent. Though, thoughts keep appearing.
If any thought is present then it’s not meditation. How to remain thoughtless though?
Remaining silent with releasing techniques
How to remain silent in spite of thoughts?
Mind can cling to picture or a mantra.
Do we have a mantra for silence? There is no mantra for silence.
However, there is a technique to create silence. The technique is as follows:
- When a thought comes don’t resist it. Say inside you, ‘this is my thought’. Thus, you disassociate yourself from the thought.
- Then ask the question to yourself, ‘Can I let go this thought?’ It will go. You can also say “release”. Then it will go.
- Now, there will be at least a one second gap between thoughts. This is equivalent to one hour of meditation. In general, we never have a gap between thoughts. In general we might have ten thoughts in one second.
- If you do not want the “let go” step, then form your own mantra or word. When we say that mantra, we create a gap between the thoughts.
- When a thought comes, interrupt it with the mantra and you will become silent. When another thought comes, say the mantra. The silence in between the mantra is meditation.
Need for pranic and physical bodies to be in coordination
Our pranic body and physical body have to be in coordination. Otherwise, we can’t meditate.
If we regulate our breathing pattern or do pranayama then they will be in coordination.
This is because both breathing and prana have the same origin. When breathing is regulated, prana is regulated too.
Pranic body has to be clear of impurities
When the pranic body is clean, then the meditation can be done successfully.
Why so much impurities in the pranic field?
It’s due to the mind. My own sadness and worries create these impurities. With the help of pranayama, one can clean these impurities.

Achieve Peace and Happiness
Blue point
I need help for a switch word that helps me to meditate. I have been doing meditation for 2 years + but could not go much far with noted changes.
So, please suggest me some switch word that helps me to mediate deeply and achieve mental peace and happiness. I don’t know but, there may be some blockage within me to be removed.
Naran
Before doing meditation, chant “WHITE CHESTNUT AGRIMONY QUIET MIND OPEN HEART RELAX” 100 times over a glass of water and drink that water in small sips. Then sit for meditation.
Meditation will not bring you anything. Meditation means cultivation.
Take one evolving emotions for a week and build up that energy within you so that it becomes your part to become easily accessible.
E.g. Take LOVE. How do you cultivate this in your mind?
Think of your parents; mentally say “I love you”. Thank them.
Thanking and smiling at all your organs is cultivating love.
Thank all the places where you resided, stayed.
Thank the Mother Earth for providing you with food manifesting your desires. Give her all your love intending “Let my love for you cleanse the pollution”.
Think of all the rivers thank them.
Think of good qualities of all the people in your life and say “I love you”.
This is meditation on Love. Cultivate (meditate) love in you. Become love itself when you meditate.
You will attract good people and even people who dislike you or people whom you don’t like will turn good.
- Similarly, take one quality a week: peace, joy, surrender, co-existence, reverence, harmony, beauty, wisdom and humility.
- Meditate on them and cultivate these qualities in you like a farmer growing the seeds.
- You can download pictures for these qualities and think about them. Wisdom means you can think of enlightened people and bring them to your mind picture.
These qualities if properly cultivated will evolve you above your survival instinct. Life is not competition; it is co-existence. It is giving and not getting. It is an exercise to accept and surrender.
Purpose of Meditation
Student
When we meditate we are supposed to control our anger. That is the purpose of meditation. But, even then the anger comes. Does it mean that we are not doing the meditation properly?
Naran
Meditation is nothing but a state of mind.
What is the meaning of meditation?
Meditate means – cultivate. When you sit for meditation we have to cultivate the qualities of the soul or the qualities of the Spirit. That is why it is called the Spiritual Quality.
It is the mind that meditates. However, the habit of the mind is to always to cling to something.
Clinginess or clinging to a particular thought, anger or any emotion is the work of the mind. You have to go beyond the mind.
It is not possible for us to do the mediation without being disturbed.
How to channel your anger?
Then what is method by which we can channelize our anger?
No emotion can be controlled, because if you try to control an emotion then it will bounce back at a later date when you do not want it.
Controlling is different. Channelizing the emotion is different. Both are not possible by the mind.
So, whatever the thought that comes to the mind, simply say, “I release this thought”.
That is the way you can handle the mind or the thoughts of the mind. We always think that we are the mind.
But the mind is the tool for the soul inside (us). For the soul to do the observation, the mind is given as its tool. The senses are its gateways.
What is the mentality of the mind?
It always sees everything outside. We have been tuned to see everything outside through our senses, for the last so many years. Not only we do that, our parents did that, and our ancestors did that.
That means looking outside and judging the events or assimilating them and passing your own commentsabout the events by seeing outside, is inscribed insideyour gene.
Managing thoughts that are out of control
You cannot do without the thought because the thought comes outof mind, without your control.
The only way to handle the flow of thought is we have to disassociate ourselves from the mind saying, “Can I release this thought? Yes, this is only a thought”. Then say, “I release this thought”.
When you counteract the mind by putting a question, the mind stops thinking. That is how you should do it, which comes only by practice.
Even if you practice for one day and you are successful in eliminating or releasing all the thoughts, the second day you may fail.
Again we have to try because when the child learns to walk, it falls so many times for so many days. And still it gets up and tries to walk.
Similarly, this is a new learning for us and new subject for us. Therefore every day we may succeed. And if we fail, we have to get up and try again.
Only by subduing the mind by putting counteractive questions, the mind can be silenced.
